She Codes Art x Jubilee REACH
Recap: 2019-2020 Workshops - Programming Fundamentals with Art
September-June, 2019-2020
|
For our She Codes Art Programming Fundamentals with Art workshop series, we partnered with Jubilee REACH, one of Bellevue's most recognized community outreach organizations, to conduct weekly one hour-long sessions in which we taught basic CS principles and skills through interactive art-themed lessons using the Google CS First curriculum. Jubilee REACH serves a diverse population, including historically underrepresented minorities and youth from underprivileged backgrounds, aligning with our mission at She Codes Art.
Students learned Scratch through projects on art-related themes for the September-June workshop series. We also partnered with Art You to host fun STEAM related workshops on a monthly basis in which students were introduced to STEM areas (ie. chemistry, human anatomy, orthographic projection etc.) to supplement our CS sessions. |
