Human-Centered Design
Recap: 2017 Workshop - Mobile App Prototyping For Art
2017
|
In our She Codes Art: Human-Centered Design workshop , we partnered with Art You and organized a workshop at the King County Library System, Redmond (KCLS) for students who explored the intersection of art and technology through prototyping mobile apps for relevant needs in the art space. We're proud to say that all our camp participants were brilliant women technologists (and several of them are very talented artists as well)!
Art You leadership team members and She Codes Art leadership partnered to conceptualize and teach this workshop, with She Codes Art bringing expertise in technology and Art You in classical/cultural art. Students were first instructed on the principles of design thinking and needfinding in the arts space. Workshop participants were then divided into two teams and instructed to apply this framework to brainstorm arts-specific challenges that could be addressed with technology. Once the teams had decided on the challenges they would build mobile apps for, Savitha guided them through the rapid prototyping process. Teams started with low-fidelity paper prototypes and refined them to create high-fidelity digital prototypes using relevant app prototyping frameworks. The camp concluded with students pitching their challenges and high fidelity prototypes. We had overwhelmingly positive feedback from camp participants and are excited to hold more workshops like this! |
